Emojis are now a global visual language. They cut through demographics and platforms, making them practical tools for public engagement. Brands use them to trigger instant recognition and emotional connection. A Giant Inflatable Emoji positioned in high-traffic and unlikely spaces attracts attention, encourages sharing, and builds brand awareness quickly.
Carnival Cruise Line used this to full effect. To celebrate the merger of P&O Cruises Australia into its brand, Carnival commissioned a 12-metre Giant Inflatable Emogi. The inflatable matched its campaign mascot—the Carnival Captain emoji—and served as a centrepiece for the launch of the newly rebranded Carnival Adventure.
In June 2024, Carnival Corp. announced that P&O Cruises Australia would close by March 2025. Its fleet would be absorbed into Carnival Cruise Line. Pacific Adventure was rebranded Carnival Adventure, with new livery, interior updates, and digital enhancements. It continues to operate from Sydney, joining Carnival Splendor in the region.
To mark the change, Carnival engaged Giant Inflatables to create a Giant Inflatable Emoji replica. The inflatable was first displayed in transport by barge through Sydney Harbour, aligning with Carnival Adventure’s maiden voyage under its new name. It was later installed at the port for public interaction and media coverage.
The inflatable had to replicate an existing digital design with precision. It was deployed and packed down multiple times across locations. Special anchoring and ballast systems were engineered to ensure safety during marine transport. The project also required approval from public safety and maritime authorities.
The campaign delivered. The inflatable moved seamlessly from barge to harbour to public display. It became a visual anchor for media, passers-by, and social content. This case shows how Giant Inflatable Emogis can support multi-phase campaigns and create a consistent brand experience across platforms.
Giant Inflatables has been producing inflatable brand activation products, sports inflatables and jumping castles since 1997.
