Cricket Australia wanted to create a captivating and mobile centrepiece to promote the Women’s Test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). This match is the first day-night Test at the MCG since the 1948/49 season and is a significant event in the Women’s Ashes Series. They approached Giant Inflatables to design a two-meter inflatable cricket ball replica to capture attention and generate excitement for the historic match.
Giant Inflatables used Oxford Cloth, a lightweight, premium fabric ideal for inflatables, ensuring the structure was durable and easy to transport. The cloth’s properties allowed for precision printing, which is crucial for maintaining the integrity of the branding. To address the challenges associated with matching the colour red—a sensitive hue prone to variations under different lighting—Giant Inflatables implemented strict PMS colour-matching protocols. This meticulous approach was essential to preserve the intended shade and uphold brand consistency.
The inflatable cricket ball, a unique creation by Giant Inflatables, featured a built-in fan, eliminating the need for an external inflator. This innovative design makes it highly mobile and easy to deploy across various promotional events leading up to the Test match.
The two-meter inflatable cricket ball replica, a striking visual backdrop, is vital in promoting the Women’s Test match at the MCG. Its vibrant and accurate representation of the cricket ball attracted attention at multiple events leading up to the match, significantly enhancing the game’s visibility. Moreover, the design’s adaptability for optional reskinning/rebranding further extends its promotional potential, making it a versatile marketing tool.
Giant Inflatables has been producing inflatable brand activation products, sports inflatables and jumping castles since 1997.
