Giant Inflatables played a crucial role in the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup lead-up, delivering custom inflatable soccer balls that anchored major promotional events across Australia. These installations boosted visibility, amplified media engagement, and ensured a memorable countdown to the tournament.

Background

The 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup will take place in Australia from 1 to 21 March 2026, with matches held across New South Wales, Queensland, and Western Australia. Key venues include Gold Coast Stadium, Perth Stadium, Perth Rectangular Stadium, Stadium Australia, and Western Sydney Stadium.

Design

In preparation for the event, Football Australia engaged Giant Inflatables to re-skin an existing 4-metre inflatable soccer ball replica from the FIFA Women’s World Cup and create two additional replicas. These inflatable replicas were strategically placed in Gold Coast, Sydney, and Perth, serving as focal points for the one-year countdown celebrations leading up to the tournament. Notably, the original inflatable ball had been re-skinned multiple times, including as a cricket ball, before its transformation for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup.

Results

The inflatable soccer balls became iconic landmarks at launch events and media activations, capturing public attention and reinforcing excitement for the tournament. Their presence at high-visibility locations enhanced event branding and served as dynamic backdrops for press conferences, cultural festivities, and fan engagement initiatives.
