Nestlé's inflatable coffee cup, designed for a trade show display, exemplifies innovation in brand representation. This dynamic, suspended installation replicates the iconic Nescafé mug, challenging traditional inflatable design with its unique square shape and broad handle.
Background

Cream Communications, an Australian strategic marketing and communications agency, specialises in brand development, digital marketing, PR, and content creation across diverse industries. Their client, Nestlé, needed a highly visible exposition display suspended from the ceiling. The iconic Nescafé coffee mug was chosen as the centrepiece, and Giant Inflatables was selected to design and fabricate it.

Design

Replicating the Nescafé cup’s square shape with rounded corners and a broad handle as an inflatable is challenging, especially when suspended at an angle. Maintaining its form requires precise construction to ensure stability and visual accuracy.

Construction

The cup was crafted from Oxford Cloth due to its lightweight flexibility, making it ideal for complex forms. The material also allows for excellent PMS color matching and provides a smooth base for printing. A built-in fan ensures a clean, practical display, making the unit easy to set up, transport, and store.

Result

The inflatable coffee cup, combined with bold cylindrical branding signage, created a dynamic, mobile visual element that effectively represented the iconic brands it showcased.
