Inflatable Waterslide for AFLW.

Background

The Australian Football Women’s League (AFLW) emerged in 2017 as a professional women’s Australian rules football competition. Initially featuring eight teams, it rapidly expanded due to its popularity, showcasing talented female athletes nationwide. AFLW has garnered substantial support, fostering inclusivity and paving the way for women’s participation and recognition in Australian rules football.

Giant Inflatables has a long history with the AFL, and the management came to the Giant Inflatables design team to create a giant inflatable waterslide for game day festivities and other sporting events.

The Design and Fabrication

Showcasing their longstanding commitment to Australian Football, Giant Inflatables partnered with the ever-evolving Australian Football Women’s League (AFLW). Established in 2017 with eight teams, the AFLW has skyrocketed in popularity, becoming a national platform for talented female athletes. Recognized for its inclusivity and dedication to women’s participation in Australian rules football, the AFLW sought to elevate the fan experience with an exciting new addition to game day festivities. Enter Giant Inflatables’ design team, tasked with creating a giant inflatable waterslide to add a splash of fun and engagement to sporting events across the league.

The Results

The AFLW wanted to make a huge impact, so the custom-designed waterslide was designed, incorporating the unmistakable AFLW logo into the slide’s structure.

The self-contained misting and watering system is removable, so the slide can be used dry indoors in the off-season.

The AFLW Waterslide has been used regularly since 2018 and can be seen yearly at various AFL and AFLW sporting events. It has become a valuable marketing asset for the league and a refreshing favourite among the growing AFLW fanbase.
