This project highlights the engineering of a durable, versatile branding gateway that anchors a major regional parade route while enabling flexible sponsorship recognition.
Background

The Koroit Irish Festival Committee Inc. organises an annual celebration of Irish heritage and culture in the township of Koroit, Victoria. As a premier regional event, the festival attracts thousands of visitors for its street parade, live music, and community activities. To align with this year’s ‘33rd County’ theme, the Project Leads identified a need for a significant visual anchor that could define the parade route and provide a professional backdrop for media coverage. The primary objective was to create a large-scale entry point that reflected the festival’s branding while remaining adaptable for future years.

A significant challenge for organisers was the requirement to acknowledge various corporate partners whose sponsorship levels and details change annually. The Marketing Team required a solution that combined permanent festival identity with a rebrandable advertising space, and partnered with Giant Inflatables to design a custom inflatable Arch that functioned as both a gateway and a dynamic marketing tool.

Design and Fabrication

The Giant Inflatable Design Team initiated a consultative process to translate the festival’s visual identity into a structural form. The project utilised a specialised heavy-duty inflatable gateway design with reinforced stabilising feet. This specific structural format provides a total width of 8.4 m and an internal clearance height of 4.0 m, allowing for the safe passage of large parade vehicles, including tractors and trucks. The Fabrication Team selected emerald green and white as the primary material colours to align with the Irish theme.

The centrepiece of the design is a prominent three-dimensional header block measuring 5.8 m in length and 1.2 m in height. This section features permanent branding for the Koroit Irish Festival, ensuring the core identity remains clear from both the front and back of the arch. To address the requirement for sponsorship flexibility, the technicians integrated multiple Velcro Banners on the vertical legs and angled shoulders of the arch. These banners will allow the marketing team to swap out high-resolution printed panels for sponsors such as Bega Group and the Victorian Government.

Technical specifications for the build included installing 18 ballast tie points and multiple inflation ports to facilitate rapid setup across varied street environments. The design also featured a dedicated “Festival Ambassador” banner section, specifically engineered to be replaceable so the client can update the featured individual for different seasons. The use of high-density, industrial-grade polyester ensures the structure remains stable under the wind loads typically encountered in regional Victoria.

Result

The custom inflatable arch successfully transformed the Koroit streetscape throughout the festival. With a clear 6.0 m internal span, the arch accommodated the entire parade procession without obstructing traffic or participants. The 3D branding header served as a high-visibility landmark that remained legible across all event photography and video documentation.

The integration of the Velcro banner system allowed the Project Leads to fulfil all sponsorship obligations with interchangeable professional-grade displays. Because the sponsorship panels are separate from the main structure, the committee has secured a long-term asset that will remain relevant as brand partners change in the future years.
