Silent House is a global award-winning design & production agency. In 2020, Silent House organized Katy Perry’s performances at the iconic Women’s T20 World Cup Cricket Match at the MCG Stadium in Melbourne.
In early 2020, Silent House approached Giant Inflatables to help create a rapidly deployable set that would make the backdrop for Katy Perry’s feature performance at the Women’s T20 World Cup in Melbourne.
The brief was to create three giant inflatable symbols for love, equals, and peace, that could be inflated and brought onto the field for Katy Perry’s show.
The enormous peace and love inflatables used a mix of inflation technologies and materials. The “love” and “peace” symbols were inflated using constant air blowers, while the “equals” symbols were free-floating and inflated with helium.
The peace and love inflatables, standing 10m high, formed a clear message in the backdrop of the performance and were seen from every corner of the MCG, the largest stadium in Australia, packing almost 100,000 people into the space. The Giant Inflatables team created the love symbol with a matte polyester material selected for its light-absorbing properties and ability to stretch without creases.
The equals symbol, being filled with helium, was created with a highly lightweight PVC material to allow the buoyancy of the helium to lift it into the air.
Finally, Giant Inflatables created the peace symbol with a heavier-duty PVC material in highly vibrant pink. Giant Inflatables’ design team chose this material to work within the tight radius curves of the construction, especially for the detailed shapes of the Peace and Love inflatables.
The show went smoothly without technical issues and received exceptionally positive feedback from attendees and the media.

The result? A trio of colossal inflatables that stole the show: a fiery red “Love” symbol, a vibrant pink “Peace” symbol, and a shimmering silver “Equals” symbol that floated on helium.
The inflatable are awesome - i have had such good feedback from the team! We used them for a Fun Run event a couple weeks ago and they looked amazing, plus they were super easy to set up and pack down. They are going down to Bells Beach in a couple weeks for the WSL and then up to the Goldie afterwards. We are super happy with them 🙂
