Silent House is a global award-winning design & production agency. In 2020 Silent house organized Katy Perry’s performances at the iconic Women’s T20 World Cup Cricket Match at the MCG Stadium in Melbourne.
In early 2020 Silent House approached Giant Inflatables to help create a rapidly deployable set that would make the backdrop for Katy Perry’s feature performance at the Women’s T20 World Cup in Melbourne.
The brief was to create three giant inflatable symbols for love, equals, and peace, that could be inflated and brought onto the field for Katy Perry’s show.
The enormous inflatables used a mix of inflation technologies and materials. The “love” and “peace” symbols were inflated using constant air blowers, while the “equals” symbols were free floating and inflated with helium.
The inflatables, standing 10m high, formed a clear message in the backdrop of the performance and were seen from every corner of the MCG, the largest stadium in Australia, packing almost 100,000 people into the space.
Silent house came to Giant Inflatables with a clear vision for their inflatables and played a significant role in the design of the inflatables.
Working from drawings made by the production company, the giant inflatables team worked to realize the vision.
Many materials were considered for the inflatables, with the final result bringing three unique materials for the inflatables.
The Inflatables team created the love symbol with a matte polyester material selected for its light-absorbing properties and ability to stretch without creases.
The equals symbol, being filled with helium, was created with a highly lightweight PVC material to allow the buoyancy of the helium to lift it into the air.
Finally, We created the peace symbol with a heavier-duty PVC material in highly vibrant pink. We chose this material to work in the tight radiuses curves of the construction.
The show went smoothly without technical issues and received exceptionally positive feedback from attendees and the media.
